There are three dance academies in our town.
One of the alternatives is the Local Dance School coordinated by professor Marcelo Urquiza, who works with people between 4 years old and older than 60. This school began two years ago and its objective has been to achieve a folk ballet that represents our town. The boys participate in Córdoba, Villa General Belgrano, Laboulaye and Villa Dolores and they also participate in zonal, regional and provincial competitions. In relation to the adults, they are formed in traditional and stylized folk. They also participate in regional festivals. In the case of Tango there are adults and some teenagers.
Another option for folk dancers is the Academy “Reflejos de Tradición” which is four years old and her teacher, Emilse Sosa, works with children between 2 and 13 years old.
Each folk academy offers the possibility to take annual exams to their students in order to become folk teachers.
Finally, the “Egipcian” school offers the possibility to learn how to dance Arab, flamengo movements and Cuban rhythms like salsa and merengue, coordinated by the teacher Jorgelina Oliva. It was inaugurated on March 2005 and any person can attend it. Their first performances were carried out in local celebrations.
